‘Calling Card’ of Perpetrator Leaves Officials Confused

It seems the world is covered by ground-shaking events in the past few months. The kidnapping of High Priestess Meda Taralom, the grievous murder in Rachel, and now, another painful loss.

A young apprentice called Ernest K… was found dead this morning in Izlude. There were no witnesses–awkward considering the circumstances of the death. His body was found crushed as if a rather heavy and large object was dropped on him. It was found in the late evening by the guard doing his rounds in the southeastern quarter of the city, where the airship dock is found. However, there were no signs of the object that caused the death of the young mage apprentice. The only clue nearby was a rapidly written message on the street, by the body. It read: “Come out come out wherever you are … “, however, the rest is illegible, as the blood of the victim washed out the words. This message had been written with the same chalk and coal that the apprentice used to draw his magic circles for spells.

His master reported to the authorities that he had sent him in an errand late in the evening, and he had found it awkward the young apprentice hadn’t returned at all, not even in the morning. Then the panic spreading rapidly around Lighthalzen made him join the many crowds around the corpse and recognize the body, or whatever was left, by the particularly tastelessly colored robe the apprentice seemed to wear often.

The funerary services will be held tomorrow’s evening, only for the family of both the master and the victim. However, the family of the victim is offering a reward for any information that could lead to the demise of the criminal.
