| Shapeshifters, Shifters, or less commonly known as ‘Kelli’ (Kel-eye), are a race whose history is shrouded in mystery and deception. They are taught from birth to keep what is close to them close to them, and as such, few non-kelli learn much of their racial past. They have the unique ability to alter their physical form to change their outward apperance. It is thought that many have 'identity issues' due to the fact that it is so easy to change.
Examples of things they may change: •Weight Distribution Kelli never leave their humanesque form. They can elongate their ears like elves, but they do not grow fur or scales or anything that some sort of aesoptian may have. In the past, kelli have been known to work as spies, assassins, informants and other like vocations, using their shapeshifting ability to their advantage in a field of work. This shady tendency causes the Shapeshifters in general to be distrusted among the other races. Not once has a single known kelli held any high ranking positions in military or government because of this. Many Kelli resent this, it being a form of racism, though most other races see it more as common sense. This is a great source of discord between the shapeshifters and the other races, especially the ones that seek peace more. IMPORTANT NOTE: Kelli require some level of concentration to maintain an 'appearance'... while awake, they're quite good at doing this to a level where it's apparently subconscious control. However, when they sleep or are knocked unconscious- they revert back to their 'original' state. As a result, many Kelli will often go out of their way to sleep segregated from others. This also makes them wary of drugs and alcohol, and paranoid to a fault about the handling of their food and drink. |
